Apparently Writer/Director Thom Eberhardt was inspired by "Ginger Rogers" while writing the female characters: Wow. I've seen the movie several times, and when I think about it, I just can't see the connection there... I'm not saying that Miss Rogers was incapable of taking on a role of... A Valley Girl travelling around a vacant city during the ending of the world... and carrying a machine gun and shooting cannibal zombies in the streets... while "shopping" for clothes and listening to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"... before having to deal with a sinister group of scientists, who possibly want to kill her, her sister, a boyfriend, and a couple of innocent children....And winning a Oscar for it... I just don't think she ever came close to playing a role like that... at least not on that kind of scale or intensity. Still, it is a nice sentiment, that someone thought of her as a "Role Model" and "Inspiration" for creating their characters. "Night of the Comet" (1984) is kind of a cross between "The Omega Man" (1971)... & "Monkey Business" (1952)... I Guess... If this had been made back in 1952... I vote for James Stewart to play "Hector", Robert Beltran's role. Not sure who I would want to see play Ginger's sister.
