OK, we will SKIP the debate concerning the existence of the paranormal, here... Understood?... and we all WILL just assume for a MOMENT that the phenomenon does exist...
Ginger's Ghost May Be Haunting Her Childhood Home
hlmgr.proboards.com/thread/59/gingers-ghost-haunting-childhood-home
I've read a few news stories about Ginger's ghost before, and I just chalked it up to people wanting to believe that it was "Ginger"... It really wasn't something that I wanted to believe in and didn't want to discuss, but after reading this particular article, I think I need to get my opinions and concerns "Off My Chest"...
I need to say TWO things before I discuss my thoughts about Ginger possibly being a ghost...
FIRST...
I myself, do believe that there is unexplained phenomenon that people experience. But, I am not certain what those things actually are. I am also not one to believe in the God, that most religions depict either. I think it is all more mysterious and unexplained... With that said... I have heard about some paranormal tales that do make me have to wonder if there really is something about life after death and angels, and so on.
After reading Ginger's Autobiography, it seems clear to me, that she did believe in these things... After all, one doesn't pray to God, if one doesn't believe, am I right? And her religion refers to praying as a means of keeping oneself as healthy...
As for this latter practice... I have to put forth here... that the Miracles that she described as having witnesses in her own life, seem very much to me of that as being nothing more than the "placebo effect". A belief that the pill you take will cure you, even if the pill is filled with just sugar. In Ginger's case, those pill were prayer.... For example: One time during a cold and windy winter evening, I came out of a restaurant and was cold while walking to the car. I convinced myself that I wasn't cold, and I stopped being cold, just by saying to myself over and over, that I wasn't cold. There was no divine intervention at work here.
And yet, as I said, I am not a complete skeptic. But, I do seek proof in order to believe.
SECOND...
Marge Padgitt is one of our members here, and is doing great work to keep Ginger's childhood home from wasting away, and turning it into a museum, so that Ginger's legacy will never be forgotten.
I do greatly respect you and your opinions and your beliefs. And if you believe that you have seen her spirit, who am I to say otherwise? I was not there to experience what you saw... So I can't say that you didn't see her.
HOWEVER,
Even if it were all true...
I have seen many paranormal shows and have learned there are many common patterns to many hauntings.
So, I find the idea of Ginger Rogers haunting her childhood home disturbing, and hard to believe, in many ways...
1.) Wonderful people go to heaven.
From what I have been able to read about Ginger in her book, and statements made by her friends, and even seeing her reactions in photographs of her. I honestly believe Ginger Rogers was one of the most wonderful people that have ever existed. If anyone should be in heaven, GINGER SHOULD BE IN HEAVEN! If she is NOT, then why would anyone else be in heaven? This raises serious problems with most beliefs concerning the after life.
2.) Deaths & Unfinished Business.
Most Ghosts tend to involve people whose lives were cut short... Accidents, murders, or they had something very important that had to be finished, but wasn't.
From what I understand, Ginger's died at her home on a morning where she wasn't feeling well. Roberta Olden was at her side for over an hour, and members of her church were praying for her. If her spirit did pass on to the next existence, at the age of 83, I find it hard to believe that this amazing woman had anything left on her "to do list", that was so big and important that she would have wanted to stay behind in our plane of existence, to finish. I believe she would have known that she died and that it was her time to go, and there should have been a wonderful white light presented to her which she would have wanted to go into.
The thought of Ginger choosing to remain behind, and now being stuck here, is just very heartbreaking.
3.) Ghosts will typically haunt certain places...
They usually haunt the place where they passed on. Or they will go to places that spent most of their lives at, or places that were VERY important to them. So why isn't Ginger haunting the home in which she died in. Or the Ranch she loved, or the wonderful Hollywood home at 1605 Gilcrest Dr. that she lived many decades in? It seems to me that is where we should find Ginger spirit to be, and yet, no one is making any claims that this is happening. So why would she be at her childhood home?
Don't Forget!
In the world of the paranormal, there are TWO kinds of hauntings...
1.) Intelligent Haunting.
Simply Put... Ginger's spirit is there at her childhood home, and can see what is going on there, and will interact with Marge Padgitt and her fans.
2.) Residual Haunting.
Simply Put... Just like Ginger starred in movies that we can watch on film... It is believed, that places and objects could have recorded events in Ginger's life, and can be replayed under the right circumstances.
You may be seeing Ginger wearing a beautiful dress and smiling back at you, but that doesn't mean it is really her spirit.
Further investigations, and analyzing the data, can help determine what is really happening...
Also, please be careful not to ASSUME that a "mist" is ectoplasm, and not cigarette smoke. Spirit orbs are frequently just dust or rain too. The rule of thumb is, if it can be (easily) something else, you have to through it out as evidence.
Please keep in mind, that it may not be Ginger at all but someone else too...
Now, I am not trying to that Ginger is NOT really there... I just think we owe it to her to be 100% sure that she is... And if she is...
HOPE?
Even though I find it extremely difficult to believe that Ginger has remained behind, there maybe be a couple possibilities to explain why she is at her childhood home...
1.) It is believed that some spirits may not haunt a place, but may haunt objects. Especially objects they truly treasured. These objects may be moved from one location to another, and the spirit will follow them.
Since her childhood home is now being turned into a museum, I would imagine, that Marge Padgitt has obtained some beloved items that actually belonged to Ginger, and that Ginger may have come along for the journey...
2.) A known place That celebrates her life.
As I said, I don't think her childhood home would be a place she would first think of as wanting to go back to visit. She spent more years living at other locations which clearly made her happy...
However, most of those places, were no longer active places in her life when she died... It's like moving to a new home, and going back a decade later to see your old home, and the new home owner has turned it into an unrecognizable dump. Maybe Ginger's spirit, just doesn't want to be at these places that no longer remind her of her life.
However, we do know, that Ginger was aware that her childhood home was registered as an historical place, and had visited the home not long before she died... So, maybe she just wants to hang out at her childhood home, because it does contain her belonging, and memorabilia, and fans who still love her and talk about her...
I have mixed emotions about all this...
As I said, I find it personally disturbing, and extremly heartbreaking that our beloved Miss Ginger Rogers is still Earthbound, possibly for all eternity, for whatever the reasons are, and is not in heaven with her mother, Lucy, and her other close friends... putting on shows and musicals and entertaining all that reside there...
But, If she is really still with us, I can at least take, some comfort, that she has found a place to be that still provides a sense of love for her.
I just hope that wherever her spirit is, and whatever she is doing, that she is happy... She deserves it.
