Information & Photos From Various Sources: " Ginger Rogers and her third husband, Jack Briggs, hold the distinction of owning the nation's first double-deck trailer. The specially-built, 6,200-pound trailer features a collapsible upper "second" floor sleeping compartment which provides three full size beds. It can be raised or lowered by means of hydraulic jacks.
Miss Rogers and her husband planned a trip pending the delivery of the trailer early in April, but it did not arrive until May 17th, and by that time she was at work on a picture. She is using the trailer as a portable dressing room until the picture is finished, and then they will make the trip." In some photo's below, we see Ginger & Jack having breakfast in the dinette of their luxurious trailer. Photograph Dates (Circa): May 18-June 24, 1947...

When I was a kid, my Dad was in the military, and he had a (1976?) Dodge "Minnie Winnie" Winnebago motorhome...Nearly identical to this one: When we went on vacation each year to see my Grandparents, it was very nice being able to bring our belongings with us, and not have to take them into a hotel each night, and then back out to the car each morning... It was also nice to know that everything inside was ours, and it was set up just how we wanted it... I would imagine Ginger enjoyed that freedom and comfort too... I recently saw Lucille Ball's film... ...on DVD and enjoyed the film, a lot. Having travelled in my Dad's motorhome as a kid, I was able to appreciate many of the things that went on in that film. I wouldn't be surprised if Ginger enjoyed the film too, if she saw it. Here is a funny personal tidbit... I used to sleep and play with my toys in the "over the cab" bunk during our ONCE A YEAR trips. There were little trays on the sides at the bottom next to the mattress to hold things, and there was a Kleenex box in there. SOMEHOW, I was playing with my Chewbacca (Star Wars) action figure, and it fell inside the Kleenex box, and I didn't know it. That box stayed in the motorhome until it was empty, which took a long while. I couldn't find him anywhere at home, and I thought I lost him.... That is until the box was finally about empty. There was this rattle inside. I looked in there, and there was Chewbacca in the bottom of the box. Something to think about if you can't find your stuff, or to remember that you need to remove everything before you sell your vehicles.
