Apparently, back in the early decades of the 1900s, actresses frequently knitted on set, in between scenes... And Ginger was no exception... When I look at the first picture of Ginger with the other knitters, I have to wonder if they are working on creating something together. Ginger even showed off her knitting talents on screen, with Fred Astaire sitting at her side, in "Shall We Dance" (1937)! Don't they look like an "old" married couple here? LOL! Here we see Ginger having a conversation with another Hollywood Knitter, Katharine Hepburn... apparently while on the set of "Stage Door" (1937)! Ginger watches fellow actress Pat Crowley knitting on the set of their picture "Forever Female" (1953)! Even Ginger's co-star from "Tales Of Manhattan" (1942), Rita Hayworth, knitted from time to time:
